It is hard to believe that kids are about to fill the halls again.  And somewhere amidst the laughter, reunions, and catching up, we have to get back into the structure that makes for a successful year.   Speaking of structure, how do you determine the rules in your classroom or space?  I've thought a lot about this, and I've asked myself many questions.  You may want to consider asking yourself these same questions...

Is it your first year of teaching?  I know it's easy to feel overwhelmed with all the things you have to do before the kids actually come to school. Just remember you are not alone, and there are colleagues who can support you, like librarians. Being a librarian, I always try to help out the first-year teachers and offer assistance whenever they need.

Bullying in schools
Just like the 3 R's have been established as the foundation for learning, former classroom educator and educational psychologist Dr. Michele Borba has proposed 6 R’s to help schools prevent bullying.  Does your school have any of these in place?  We’d love to know your thoughts.
