End of school

Space walk

Make a teachable moment with the anniversary of America's first space walk nearly 50 years ago in June.  The theme of space and astronomy offers valuable lessons for students -- lessons that can motivate them and make science, history, language arts and math more interesting and meaningful.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, honors the men and women who died serving in the United State military. So Memorial Day has great potential as a teachable moment. You can develop related activities for art, poetry and even math, but the real lesson is that thousands have given their all so we can be free.
